Kamala Harris Criticizes Biden's Re-election Bid, Reveals Internal Conflicts

In her upcoming memoir, '107 Days,' former US Vice President Kamala Harris voices concerns about President Joe Biden's decision to run for re-election without consulting his team. She described the decision as 'reckless' and suggested the stakes were too high to be handled so casually.

'‘This is Joe and Jill’s decision.’ We all repeated the mantra as if collectively hypnotized,' Harris writes. 'Was it saving face or reckless? Looking back, I think it was reckless.'

She emphasized that 'This choice should not be governed by personal vanity or ambition. It should have been a decision that transcended the individual and became more holistic.'

The memoir also reveals internal conflicts within the White House, with Harris feeling undermined by Biden's team. She alleges they didn't fully defend her when Republicans attacked her as a 'DEI hire' and failed to highlight her accomplishments in addressing the root causes of migration from Central America, fearing her success would overshadow Biden.

From Presidential Candidate to Vice President: The Dilemma of Proving Loyalty

After losing the 2020 Democratic presidential nomination race, Biden chose Harris as his running mate, making her the first female Vice President in US history. However, Harris reveals that she had to repeatedly prove her loyalty to Biden after publicly criticizing him in a 2019 debate over his stance on mandatory busing policies in the 1970s.

Harris's Contradictory Assessment of Biden's Abilities and Age

Despite criticizing Biden's decision to run for re-election, Harris defends his mental acuity and ability to govern during his presidency. 'Joe Biden is a smart man, not only experienced but also with strong convictions and fully capable of performing the duties of president,' she writes.

However, she adds, 'Joe, at 81, was starting to tire. It was then that his age problem started to show—whether in physical movements or verbal expression, there were frequent lapses.'

The Future of the Democrats: Beyond Biden

This memoir raises questions about the future of the Democratic Party and whether Biden is the best choice to lead the party in the upcoming election. It also highlights the challenges facing Harris as the first female Vice President and the high expectations placed upon her. Examining potential future leaders within the party is now a key focus for many political observers.
